ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Navy scored the game's first eight points, but it was all Lafayette from that point as the Leopards coasted to a 70-47 victory on Saturday night at Alumni Hall.

Joey Ptasinski led four Lafayette players in double figures with 15 points, Dan Trist scored 13, Seth Hinrichs added 12 and Zach Rufer had a career-high 11. As a team the Leopards connected on 52 percent from the floor, including 8-of-16 from three-point range. On the glass, Lafayette outrebounded Navy 35-24, as Hinrichs (10 rebounds) collected his second-career double-double.

After spotting the Midshipmen the 8-0 lead, Lafayette (12-13, 5-3 Patriot) strung together an 18-4 run that spanned more than 10 minutes. Tilman Dunbar's elbow jumper ended the spurt at 6:58 before Lafayette scored the next 12 points and eventually took a 35-20 advantage into the break. The Leopards' 32-6 stretch included a torrid start from beyond the arc as Lafayette knocked down seven of its first eight three-point attempts. Three of those treys came from Ptasinski, who scored 10 of his 15 points in the first half.

Lafayette picked up where it left off at the start of the second half, making its first six shots to take a 48-24 lead at the first media timeout. Layups by Bryce Scott, Johnson and Trist opened the period and Ptasinski hit his fourth three of the contest as Lafayette tallied nine of the first 10 points. Navy's Brandon Venturini connected from distance on the other end before Johnson and Trist made jumpers, giving Lafayette the 24-point cushion.

Navy (7-16, 1-6 Patriot) never threatened Lafayette in the second half and was unable to pull within 20 points after halftime. Worth Smith paced the Mids on each end, scoring 13 points and snatching five steals. Overall, Navy was limited to 37.3 percent shooting and 3-of-14 from outside.

Lafayette returns to action on Wednesday, Feb. 13 when its hosts Army at Kirby Sports Center. Tipoff against the Black Knights is slated for 7 p.m.

Game Notes:

Lafayette improved to 11-2 on the season when leading at halftime and 7-0 when shooting better than 50 percent.

The Leopards have won four straight games against Navy and are 21-19 under Fran O'Hanlon.

Levi Giese's three blocked shots puts him at 99 for his career.
