Easton, Pa. - A late goal from Rutgers' Katie Champion sealed the Leopards fate in a hard fought game at Rappolt Field on Sunday afternoon. Lafayette fell in heartbreaking fashion, as the Scarlet Knights came away with a 2-1 win on a goal late in the second half. Lafayette dropped to 3-6, while Rutgers improved to 4-5.

Kristin Heaney found the back of the net in the 14^th minute after receiving a pass from Kelsey Gula in the circle and firing a shot past the Rutgers goalie. Five minutes later, Sarah Regn tied the score at one on a shot from the outside that she deflected on the way through the circle. The Leopards outshot the Scarlet Knights 6-1 with four shots on frame in the first half.

Deutsch improved to 3-5 on the season, making three saves in the win, while Lehigh's Julia Ward dropped to 2-6 on the season. Mead finished the afternoon with a pair of assists, while Millen and Szalkowski each had helpers.

Rutgers and Lafayette battled throughout the second half, with neither team able to break the deadlock. The Scarlet Knights finally broke through in the final three minutes to steal the win.

Jessica Deutsch made two saves in the loss, while Sarah Stuby stopped four shots for the Scarlet Knights. Lafayette outshot Rutgers, 11-5, and 5-4 on shots on goal, while the Scarlet Knights held a 2-1 edge in penalty corners.

The Leopards travel to Philadelphia on Wednesday to take on Penn, followed by a Patriot League contest against Bucknell on Saturday at noon.
