COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Senior defender and captain
Makenzie Switzer was named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA)'s Division I Senior Team on Thursday.
The competitive roster features 38 athletes from 32 Division I institutions and celebrates their competitive excellence, leadership and lasting influence within their programs.
Switzer commanded the Leopards' defensive line this season as a starter in all 19 contests, adding up to 1,169 minutes on the field. The Biology major is credited with four assists for four points and made one defensive save during her time on College Hill. Switzer, a West Pittston, Pa. native, recorded three All-Patriot League First Team awards, three All-Patriot League Tournament Team laurels and two NFHCA DI All-Mideast Region First Team honors. She earned multiple academic accolades throughout her four years as a member of the Maroon and White.
Selections are based on nominations submitted by NFHCA member coaches and reviewed by committees composed entirely of NFHCA coach members. Seniors are eligible for selection only once during their collegiate careers.
The Leopards closed out the 2025 season with a 12-7 (5-1 PL) record, finishing as the Patriot League Championship runner-up on Nov. 8.
The NFHCA is deeply grateful to longtime coach and donor Karren Mann for her generous contribution to the Collegiate Senior Team awards experience, now and in the future. Thanks to her support, each selected 2025 student-athlete will receive a personalized engraved award commemorating this special recognition.
