Hamilton, N.Y. - Linnel Macklin knocked down seven threes on her way to a career-high 25 points, as the Leopards took down Colgate 90-75 on Wednesday night. Reigning Patriot League Player of the Week Emily Homan continued her impressive run of play, as she finished with her second double-double in three games with 26 points and a career-best 16 rebounds, scoring 20 or more for the third straight game.

Lafayette improved to 4-5 in Patriot League play and 10-10 overall, while Colgate dropped to 1-8 in league play. Harriet Ottewill-Soulsby turned in her best game of the season finishing with eight points off the bench. Madeline Fahan and Danielle Fiacco finished in double figures with 11 and 10 points apiece.

Homan got off to a fast start, scoring four of Lafayette's first seven points, but Colgate took a 9-7 lead into the under 16 media timeout. The Raiders pushed their advantage to five with 12 minutes to play in the first half.

Trailing by 10 midway through the first half, the Leopards used a 14-5 run highlighted by six Homan points, to pull to within one at the 6:30 mark. Another bucket from Homan gave the Leopards their first lead since the 17:33 mark of the first half. The Maroon and White increased their lead to as many as six and took a 37-35 advantage into the break.

Colgate began the second half on a 4-0 spurt to take a 39-37 lead, forcing a Lafayette timeout. Out of the timeout, Macklin connected on her fourth three of the night, giving the Leopards a one-point advantage. After a pair of buckets from the Raiders, Fahan buried a three from the wing to knot the game at 43.

After a three from Colgate's Mariah Jones, Homan scored on back-to-back possessions to take the lead, 47-46. Ottewill-Soulsby scored six of the next eight points for the Leopards to increase the Lafayette lead to five, 55-50. Homan extended the advantage to seven with an easy two on a feed from Macklin.

Another three from Colgate was answered by Macklin's career-best fifth three pointer, extending the Leopard edge to 60-53. Another three from Macklin, followed by a Homan bucket pushed the Lafayette lead to eight, 71-63. Macklin's seventh triple gave the Leopards a 12-point lead with four and a half minutes left. Lafayette maintained its advantage over the final four minutes and came away with a 90-75 win.

The Leopards are back in action on Saturday night at Navy. Opening tip is set for 7 p.m.
