EASTON, Pa. – Lafayette women's basketball had four members selected to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District II Team on Tuesday afternoon. Sophomores
Tasha Chudy and
Teresa Kiewiet and junior
Sauda Ntaconayigize were all first-time honorees. Lafayette's fourth selection was senior guard
Abby Antognoli, who was chosen for the third year running.
Antognoli's selection comes after receiving Third Team All-Patriot League and Academic All-Patriot League laurels for a third-consecutive campaign. On the court, the Bay Head, N.J. native averaged 12.5 ppg (ninth in PL), 3.9 apg (second in PL) and 36.1 mpg (first in PL). She now ranks ninth all-time in scoring with 1,301 career points and sits in fifth place in all-time assists with 357. The Economics major holds a 3.95 cumulative grade-point average on College Hill and is a member of a variety of student organizations at Lafayette.
Chudy had a breakout year in her sophomore season, starting in 30 games. The Saratoga Springs, N.Y. native averaged 5.4 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 0.8 apg in 22.2 minutes per contest. Chudy's standout performance of the season was in a gritty road win at Navy (2/8), where she recorded her first-career double double with 15 points and 10 rebounds on 7-10 shooting. The Engineering major holds a 3.52 GPA and she's an avid volunteer at basketball clinics in her local community. Last summer, Chudy interned a ReWire Energy where she found, listed and categorized new incentives set by New York State to help advise clients.
North Mankato, Minn. native Kiewiet also reached new heights in her sophomore campaign. She averaged 9.3 ppg, 3.5 rpg and 0.8 apg, while playing 26.3 minutes per outing. Kiewiet proved her lethal scoring ability, by shooting a team-best 44.2 percent (50 or more attempts) from the floor and 41.9 percent from downtown. Her best game in Maroon and White came in the Leopards' home win over American (2/12), when she dropped a performance of 27 points (career high) on 8-10 shooting, four rebounds and a career-high three steals. Off the court, the Engineering major holds a perfect 4.0 GPA and has made the college's Dean's List in all of her semesters in Easton. She was recently one of 10 students nominated for the Professor William G. McLean Tau Beta Pi Prize, which is presented to an engineering student who excelled in academics and extracurricular activities during their first three semesters at Lafayette.
The Patriot League's leader in three-point percentage, Ntaconayigize, rounds off Lafayette's all-district honorees. The Quebec, Canada native shot a scorching 42.0 percent from deep this season and averaged 7.6 ppg, 2.8 rpg and 1.3 apg in 30.4 minutes per game. Her best game of the season came at home against nationally-ranked Notre Dame (11/17), when she finished with career bests of 17 points, eight rebounds and six field goals. The Psychology major maintains a 3.69 GPA and she's been named to the Dean's List in five of her semesters on College Hill. Ntaconayigize is a member of the International Honor Society in Psychology and she's involved in numerous student organizations on campus, including Lafayette's African and Caribbean Students Association.
