ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Navy's Thomas Shiiba recorded the only goal of the game as the Mids slipped past the Lafayette men's soccer team on Saturday evening in Annapolis, Md., 1-0.

After a defensive opening half that featured just one shot on goal between the two teams, Navy finally opened the scoring in the 52nd minute. The Mids' Derek Vogel corralled a free kick from Joseph Greenspan at the top of the box and flicked it forward for a streaking Shiiba. Shiiba ran onto the ball and chipped it over Leavy into the near side for the 1-0 advantage and gamewinner.

Lafayette was held without a shot on goal and held the Mids to just three shots on Leavy, who made two saves in his fifth loss of the season. Navy led the way in total shots, 18-7, and corner opportunities, 5-1.

Navy, the defending champion in the Patriot League and preseason top pick moves to 5-4-2 on the year and 1-1-0 in league play with the win, while Lafayette falls to 0-2-0 in conference action and 3-5-2 overall.

Eric West and Ryan Egan led the Lafayette offensive attack with two shots apiece, while Ben Marks, Tom McCutcheon and Nate Arronson all tallied one shot each. Navy's Sam Bascom racked up six shots on the game, while PJ Suess recorded three and Shiiba put in one of his two shots.

Next up for the Leopards is a meeting with archrival Lehigh at Mike Bourger '44 Field at Oaks Stadium on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
