West Long Branch, N.J. - A pair of hat tricks from Lauren Kleiber and Carlianne McCabe pushed the Leopards past Monmouth, 12-6 on Wednesday afternoon. Lafayette won its second consecutive game to improve to 2-2 this season.

The Leopards jumped out to an early 3-0 lead on a pair of goals from Kleiber and a tally from McCabe six minutes into the game. The Hawks answered with a goal of their own at the 23:16 mark, but Kleiber netted her hat trick midway through the half to push the lead back to three, 4-1.

Monmouth pulled to within one after it scored back-to-back goals with under 10 minutes to play in the opening half. Lafayette Kristen Mignon converted a free position shot, followed 30 seconds later by McCabe's second goal of the afternoon, as the Leopards took a 6-3 advantage into the half.

McCabe completed her hat trick with 28:35 left in the second half to make it 7-3 Lafayette. Monmouth countered right away with Emily Barbieri scoring her second goal of the game 10 seconds later. Kirsten Wilhelmsen increased the Lafayette lead to four with 16 minutes to play. Three minutes later Wilhelmsen found the back of the net again as the Leopards led 9-4 with 13 minutes to play.

The Hawks trimmed the Lafayette lead to four, 9-5 with 8:54 left in the game. Lafayette answered right away with Charlotte Avallone tallying a goal at the 8:15 mark. Katie Elander made it 11-5 with five minutes to play, and Ana White tallied the final goal for the Leopards with three minutes on the clock to secure a 12-6 win.

Kleiber and McCabe led the way with three goals apiece, while Wilhelmsen tallied a pair of goals in the win. Mignon, White, Avallone and Elander each scored a goal in the win. Laura Rowan and Rachel Martin led the defense with three and two groundballs, respectively. In between the pipes, Meghan Curtin made nine saves for the Leopards.

Lafayette returns to action on Saturday for its home opener at 2:30 p.m. against Binghamton at Rappolt Field.
