EASTON, Pa. - Junior Greg Biggiani headed in an 88th minute goal to salvage a 110-minute draw for the Lafayette men's soccer team against St. Francis Brooklyn on Saturday afternoon at Mike Bourger '44 Field at Oaks Stadium.

With just four minutes remaining in regulation time and the score knotted up at one goal apiece, St. Francis' Nyel Patel corralled a bouncing ball just outside the top right corner of the Lafayette defensive box. Patel settled and sent a rocket of a shot blazing into the far-side corner of the net for what, at the time, looked to be the gamewinner. However, Biggiani and freshman Daniel Felman had other ideas.

In the 88th minute, Felman and senior Chandler Fraser-Pauls worked a two-man game down the left side of the offensive half. Felman earned his space and sent a ball across the goal mouth toward a hungry Biggiani, who had been working his chances all day to no avail. The junior got his head on the cross and sent it back toward the left side-netting and past the outstretched arm of Terriers' goalkeeper Jack Binks for the tying tally.

The overtime sessions were not without a scare for Lafayette, though, as sophomore Andrew Gonzalez came up with a critical defensive save to keep the Leopards in it. A St. Francis corner in the 101st minute found a Terrier head in the center of the box and the ball seemed to have beaten Leavy. However, Gonzalez, who had far-post responsibilities, came off his line and flicked the oncoming shot away to seal the 2-2 draw.

The Maroon and White got on the board in a hurry when freshman Christian Moyse made a near-post run on a corner from sophomore Ben Marks and headed it into a wide-open net in the fourth minute for the early 1-0 advantage. Just seven minutes later, Vincent Bezecourt sent a free kick into a good area and Paul Galimi headed it up and over the arms of Lafayette goalkeeper Sandy Leavy to tie it at one, a scoreline that would remain until the two scores in the final five minutes.

Leavy made four saves, moving 1-3-1 on the year, while Binks recorded three saves in his first non-loss of the year, pushing his record to 0-4-1. St. Francis Brooklyn led the way in shots, 15-13, but the Leopards won the corner-kick battle with seven compared to six for the Terriers.

A three-game road trip is next on the slate for the Leopards as they'll travel to Pittsburgh, Binghamton, and Albany over the next week. The Maroon and White return to Mike Bourger '44 Field at Oaks Stadium on Sept. 27 to open Patriot League play against Colgate at 1 p.m.
