EASTON, Pa. - Lafayette and the University of Maryland at Baltimore County have agreed to move the site of their season-opening baseball series to Finch Field in Thomasville, N.C. The series was originally scheduled to be played in Baltimore.
Neither team has had the chance to get on the field yet this season due to the winter weather, so the decision was made to head south rather than run the risk of another cancellation. The Leopards had to call off their opening series this past weekend - as well their home opener scheduled for Tuesday - due to field conditions and cold temperatures.
Lafayette and UMBC are aiming to play a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 10:30 a.m., and single game on both Saturday (5:00 p.m.) and Sunday (12:00 p.m.).
