CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Lafayette baseball standouts Cory Spera and Alex Woinski have been named to the 2015 Preseason All-Patriot League Baseball Team, as announced Tuesday by the conference office. The squad was voted on by the league's head coaches and sports information directors.

Spera was tabbed as the league's top relief pitcher and will be looking to build on a 2014 campaign that saw him earn a spot on the Patriot League first team. The Lorton, Va., native tossed 23 2/3 innings out of the bullpen as a junior and compiled a 3-1 record with a 1.52 earned run average. In the Patriot League, Spera's ERA was second among relievers who made at least 10 appearances out of the bullpen. He was responsible for 16 strikeouts and four walks and his 4:1 strikeout-to-walk ratio was fifth among his conference counterparts. The biology major is also the reigning Patriot League Baseball Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Woinski was a second-team all-conference selection at first base in 2014 and has been chosen to the league's designated hitter slot to begin his sophomore season. The Paramus, N.J., product made a splash as rookie, leading the Leopards with a .326 batting average on his way to Freshmen All-American honors from Louisville Slugger. Woinski also led the team with 12 doubles and was second with 20 runs batted in. For conference games only last year, he ranked fourth in the Patriot League a .351 batting average.

The Leopards are scheduled to begin play on Feb. 20-22, traveling to Durham, N.C. for a three-game set with North Carolina Central.
