BALTIMORE, Md. - The Lafayette women's lacrosse team fell to its second straight opponent predicted to finish in the top-two of the league standings with a 16-6 defeat to No. 16 Loyola in Baltimore, Md. on Saturday afternoon.

Sophomore Kirsten Wilhelmsen added to her team-leading scoring total with two goals and an assist on the afternoon, but the Leopards dug themselves a hole early that was difficult to come back from. The first six goals of the game went the way of the Greyhounds before Maggie Carver sent in an unassisted tally to end the run.

Two of the last three in first half went in off Loyola sticks as Melissa Galione's finish off a Carver feed sent the game into the break with the Leopards trailing, 8-2. Seven of the first nine goals in the second half made the game decisive for Loyola as it took a 14-3 advantage at the 13:08 mark.

Three back from the Leopards, including two from Wilhelmsen from the 8:40 mark to the 5:43 mark of the second stanza pulled the Maroon and White back under the 10-goal differential, trailing by eight, 14-6. Unfortunately, that was all Lafayette would get on the afternoon, falling by a final score of 16-6.

Charlotte Rath and Amanda Case were the other goal-scorers for Lafayette on the day, while six Greyhounds recorded multiple goals, led by three from Kara Burke. Freshman Anna Raymond stopped four Loyola shots on the day, moving to 1-7 on the year, while Loyola's Molly Wolf picked up the win with seven saves and just four goals allowed.

Loyola led the way in shots, 30-21 and ground balls, 16-14. The teams were deadlocked at 12-12 in draw controls and Loyola converted on 17 of its 21 clears compared to 11-of-12 for the Leopards.

The Leopards return to Fisher Field on Wednesday for a battle with archrival Lehigh at 7:30 p.m.
