EASTON, Pa. - Lafayette was announced as the 16th seed in the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament's East Region on Sunday night. The 2015 Patriot League Champions will take on the top seed in the region, Villanova, on Thursday, March 19 at CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh at 6:50 p.m. ET. The game will be televised on TBS.
The Leopards are making their third appearance in the NCAA Tournament and the first since 2000. Lafayette is led by head coach Fran O'Hanlon, a 1970 Villanova graduate in his 20th season. Villanova enters the NCAA Tournament with a 32-2 record, including a 16-2 mark in the Big East to earn the regular-season title. The Wildcats defeated Xavier, 69-52, on Saturday to claim the Big East Tournament Title.
The Leopards and Wildcats last met in the season-opener in 2013 at Villanova, a 75-59 win for the Wildcats.
