Opening Tip
- Lafayette is making its first trip to the NCAA Tournament since the 1999-2000 season after a 65-63 win over American on March 11 at
Kirby Sports Center in the Patriot League championship game. That year, Lafayette, a 15 seed, fell to second-seeded Temple in the opening round, 73-47.
- A national leader in graduation rates, undergraduate research, and graduate and mid-career salaries, Lafayette offers the benefits of larger schools with the student-centered approach of a small, undergraduate college.
- Lafayette ranks in the top-10 nationally in all three offensive efficiency categories, including holding the second spot in the country in three-point field-goal percentage (41.3%). Additionally, the Leopards are eighth in overall field-goal percentage (48.8%) and ninth in free-throw percentage (76.6%).
- Lafayette has made three previous appearances to the NCAA Tournament before this season. In 1957, Lafayette dropped both its original matchup with Syracuse, 75-71, and its consolation game with Canisius, 82-76. In 1999, the Leopards fell to Miami (Fla.), 75-54, and Temple knocked out the Maroon and White in 2000, 73-47.
