EASTON, Pa. - Kirsten Wilhelmsen and Amanda Case each tallied a pair of goals, but the Leopards fell to visiting Lehigh in women's lacrosse action on Wednesday night.

Lafayette moved to 1-8 this season and 0-3 in the Patriot League, while Lehigh improved to 3-4 and 1-1 in conference games. Maddy Bowles and Sarah Malone added tallies for the Leopards and Charlotte Rath and Maggie Carver handed out an assist apiece. The Mountain Hawks were led by Lauren Beausoleil with a game-high four goals.

Lehigh opened the scoring in the with two goals in the first five minutes before Carver found Bowles with 24:32 remaining in the half to cut the lead in half. The Mountain Hawks countered with the next three goals to take a 5-1 advantage ten minutes into the contest.

Back-to-back goals from Wilhelmesen at the 13:53 mark and Case at the 12:11 mark trimmed the deficit to two, 5-3. Lehigh used a three-goal spurt to push its lead to 8-3 with two minutes to play in the opening period.

Wilhelmsen scored her second of the night just before halftime and the Leopards went into the break trailing 8-5.

Case talliedher second of the night to open the scoring in the second half with 26:55 on the clock. Lehigh posted three goals in a four-minute span to take an11-5 lead midway through the second period.

At the 13:22 mark, the Mountain Hawks found the back of the net again to increase the deficit to 12-5. After a pair of Lehigh markers, Lafayette's Sarah Malone converted on a free position shot with three minutes on the clock, but Lehigh added another in the final two minutes to walk away with a 15-6 victory.

Bowles, Taylor McGinnis and Dana Smith led the defensive effort with two caused turnovers each. Wilhelmsen paced the team in draw controls with a team-high four, while Carver grabbed three in the setback. Anna Raymond made three saves in the game.

The Leopards are back in action Saturday afternoon against Holy Cross.
