VILLANOVA, Pa. - In a game that never featured a scoring difference of more than two goals either way, the Lafayette women's lacrosse team was outlasted in the end at Villanova on Wednesday evening by a 13-11 margin.

Three different Lafayette players netted hat tricks in the defeat as sophomores Charlotte Rath, Amanda Case and Kirsten Wilhelmsen all tallied three goals apiece on the night. Jackie Froccaro was a force for the Wildcats, recording a game-high six goals.

Trailing 8-7 entering the second half of play, the Wildcats struck first as Froccaro beat Lafayette freshman goalie Anna Raymond less than two minutes into action to extend its edge to two at 9-7. However, the Leopards responded as Rath fed Wilhelmsen at the 25:50 mark and scored one of her own just seven seconds later to knot the game at nine with 25:43 on the clock.

The two teams traded tallies throughout the second half as the third score off the stick of Case with 3:56 to play made it an 11-11 game late. Unfortunately, that would be Lafayette's final tally of the contest as Villanova put two more in the net over the final four minutes to walk off with a 13-11 victory.

Lafayette held the edge in shots, 22-17, but Villanova goalie Jaclyn Fraum was excellent, making eight saves on the night for her fifth win of the year. With the loss, the Leopards fall to 2-9 overall on the season, while Villanova moves above the .500 mark at 5-4 for the season thus far.

Draw controls were knotted up at 13 apiece for either side, while the majority of the other statistical categories were even. Lafayette forced the Wildcats into six failed clears on the night, but Fraum's eight saves nullified that edge.

The Leopards return to Patriot League action on Saturday, traveling to Boston U. for a 1 p.m. meeting with the Terriers.
