THIS WEEKEND: The Leopards will make their long-awaited home debut on Saturday with a doubleheader against Holy Cross beginning at 1:05 p.m. It also happens to be the Patriot League opener for both schools. The two teams will also play twice on Sunday beginning at 12:05 p.m. The first game of each doubleheader will be a seven-inning game, while the second game will be nine innings.
SCOUTING THE CRUSADERS: Holy Cross arrives in Easton with a 5-14 record. The Crusaders have only played once since March 15: a 4-2 loss to Boston College on Wednesday. Hitting .270 as a team, Holy Cross is led by freshman Cam O'Neill's .394 batting average. They lead the Patriot League, and rank 31st nationally, with 13 sacrifice flies. Though the Crusaders struggle on the mound with a 6.40 earned run average, they top the Patriot League with a .969 fielding percentage.
MOTHER NATURE: The Leopards have had just as many games cancelled due to weather and field conditions this season as they have played, with 11 contests having been called off so far. With only 11 games played this season, Lafayette trails all other Patriot League teams in games played by at least six games. By comparison, Navy has already played 25 times. Lafayette is one of only 33 Division I teams to have not had a home game yet.
EARLY POWER: Lafayette leads the Patriot League (and ranks 78th nationally) with 0.68 home runs per game. The Leopards have hit seven homers this season, which already equals half of last season's total. Junior Tyler Hudson and sophomore Alex Woinski have each gone deep twice already.
WEEKLY HONORS: Freshman Steven Cohen earned Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors on March 2nd following the Leopards' four-game series in Goose Creek, S.C. He hit .400 that weekend with two doubles, a homer and a stolen base, and he currently ranks second on the team with a .344 batting average. Woinski and sophomore David Bednar earned honorable mentions from the conference this past Monday for their efforts last week.

NEXT TIME OUT: Lafayette will seek revenge for the men's basketball team when it travels to Villanova on Tuesday for a quarterfinal matchup in the Liberty Bell Classic, an eight-team Philadelphia-area tournament that hosts its championship game in the Phillies' Citizens Bank Park.
