THIS WEEKEND: The Leopards will host their second Patriot League series in as many weekends this Saturday and Sunday, welcoming Army for a pair of doubleheaders. Action is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday and noon on Sunday. The first game of each doubleheader will be a seven-inning game, while the second game will be nine innings. Live stats for each game will be available via Gametracker at the links above.

SCOUTING THE BLACK KNIGHTS: Army arrives in Easton with a 14-10 record, having taken care of Lehigh in three of their four games last weekend. Army also defeated Siena on Tuesday. The Black Knights are hitting .283 as a team and are led by reigning Patriot League Player of the Week Mark McCants. The senior outfielder ranks fourth in the conference with a .389 batting average and leads the league with 26 runs batted in.

The Lafayette defense will also need to look out for fellow senior Harold Earls, who is fourth in league history and tops among all active Division I players with 75 career stolen bases. He has 11 swipes so far this season.

On the mound, Army boasts one of the best pitchers in the league in Alex Robinett. He has already thrown three complete games with two shutouts and ranks second in the conference with a 1.73 earned run average. He posted his 20th career victory on Saturday against Lehigh, tying him for 10th all-time in the Patriot League record book. Robinett now has three spots in the Patriot League career top 10, as he also places sixth in both strikeouts (232) and ERA (2.57).

LAFAYETTE IN THE PITCHING RANKS: The Leopards have gotten impressive performances so far out of sophomore David Bednar and freshman John Cain. Bednar leads the team with a 2.62 ERA and a .207 opposing batting average. Those numbers rank sixth and fourth, respectively, in the Patriot League. Cain is right behind him, ranking eighth (2.81) and fifth (.217) in the conference. Both hurlers also rank in the top five in strikeouts per nine innings, with Cain sitting second at 11.25 and Bednar placing fifth at 9.38. Also noteworthy is junior reliever Ryan Callanan's strikeout-to-walk ratio of 12.00, which leads the conference and ranks 24th in the nation.

LEOPARDS TO PLAY ON TV: Game one of the Leopards' doubleheader at Navy on April 12 will be televised live by CBS Sports Network. Be sure to consult your cable or satellite provider's channel listings so you can tune in next weekend.

SENIOR CLASS AWARD: Congratulations are in order for senior relief pitcher Cory Spera, who was recently selected as one of 30 candidates nationally for the Senior CLASS Award, which honors NCAA baseball student-athletes who excel both on and off the diamond. Candidates must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition. An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities. From the list of 30 candidates, a national media committee will select ten finalists in late April. Those ten names will then be placed on the official ballot for a nationwide vote.

MOTHER NATURE: The Leopards have had almost as many games cancelled due to weather and field conditions this season as they have played, with 11 contests having been called off so far. With only 16 games played this season, Lafayette trails all other Patriot League teams in games played by at least six games. By comparison, Navy has already played 30 times.

STAY UPDATED: Be sure to follow the Leopards on Twitter @LafayetteBsbl for game updates, schedule changes and news.

NEXT TIME OUT: Lafayette will play host to St. Joseph's on Tuesday in a consolation game of the Liberty Bell Classic. The matchup was set when the Hawks lost to Penn and Lafayette lost to Villanova. First pitch is set for 3:30 pm.
