Cohen Named to Freshmen All-American Team

June 3, 2015

TUSCON, Ariz. -- Lafayette freshman shortstop Steven Cohen has been named to the 2015 Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-American team, as was announced Wednesday by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.

Cohen becomes the second Leopard in as many years to make the squad, following Alex Woinski's selection as a first baseman last season.

Cohen was an immediate force from the batter's box in his debut campaign, and finished with a .281 batting average, seven doubles and 18 runs scored over 36 games played. Despite serving as the primary lead-off hitter, he led the team with five home runs and 23 runs batted in.

Hailing from Newtown Square, Pa., Cohen was named to the All-Patriot League second team and finished as the runner-up in the conference's Rookie of the Year voting. He was twice named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week, and joined teammate Parker Hills on the Patriot League All-Tournament Team.
