What attracted you to attend Lafayette College?
The combination of high academic standards and D1 baseball was the No. 1 selling point.

It certainly wasn't my campus visit ... I drove up during a January snow storm when the campus was completely empty. Coach Kinney attempted to show me the snow-covered field (I'm still not sure why) only to be rejected by an iced-over Metzgar Field gate. I'll give him some credit for not backing down from the challenge.

Between your former teammates and coaches, who has made the most impact on your career? I remain close with so many of my teammates and coaches that I can honestly say they've all played a role in where I am today. In particular, Jeff Butler and Coach Kinney were very influential. Jeff remains one of my best friends and is someone I look up to when it comes to being motivated and passionate about how you choose to live your life.

I have a tremendous amount of respect for Coach Kinney. He instilled discipline and demanded a level of character from his players that I have taken with me into my career. During college, his character was on full display when after being diagnosed with cancer and receiving treatment, he still managed to show up at our 5 a.m. practices. While he couldn't coach with his typical "enthusiasm," he still managed to crack some jokes and make light of the situation.

What collegiate baseball experiences have been invaluable to your successful career?
My time at Lafayette was shaped by being a student-athlete. Balancing busy academic and athletic schedules, competing every day, setting goals and learning to define success from a team/individual standpoint are all experiences that have proven invaluable.

In general, I've learned to set goals knowing that a lot of effort is required to achieve them. Practicing almost every day and playing 50 games a year cultivates a level of competiveness that has motivated me to challenge myself in life.

What was your most memorable moment playing Lafayette baseball?
This one's easy -- winning the Patriot League Championship in 2007!

What advice do you have for Lafayette athletes?
Follow what you're passionate about and define success/happiness for yourself. Mistakes are a part of living (I made my fair share in college), learn from them and you can achieve your goals. Don't hesitate to reach out for help or advice. There are a lot of people willing to offer insight.

What are you up to these days -- Any special endeavors of interest to the Lafayette Baseball community?
From a career standpoint, I thought right after my baseball playing days ended I'd be completely done with baseball. One thing led to another and I found myself working at the technology arm of Major League Baseball, MLB Advanced Media. Now I ironically help develop products and content for some players that I faced in college (ex. Matt Harvey, Sean Doolittle).

Outside of work, I mentioned remaining close with a lot of teammates. Three other Lafayette baseball alumni (Alex Bechta `11, Brian Davila '12 and Mike Massa `13) and I are all training as teammates for The Wall Street Decathlon on June 13, 2015. It's an event that combines a level of physical performance (2/3) with the ability to fundraise (1/3) for the research that cures pediatric cancer at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. It has been great to be teammates with these guys on a different playing field per se. Plus we are doing it for a good cause, so if anyone in the Lafayette community would like to contribute and become a part of our team, they can donate or share our links.
