Wadsworth, Mrazek, Powe named All-Patriot League

Nov. 22, 2016

EASTON, Pa. – Junior tight end Dylan Wadsworth heads a list of three players who were selected to the All-Patriot League Football Teams announced on Tuesday.

Wadsworth was an All-Patriot League First-Team selection while wide receiver classmate Matt Mrazek and sophomore defensive back Jerry Powe secured Second-Team laurels for the Maroon and White. The teams are nominated and voted on by the Patriot League coaches.

Wadsworth (Greenwich, Conn./Brunswick School) reeled in 42 balls for 591 yards with two touchdowns in a breakout season. He was second on the team in pass receptions, yards per catch (14.1) and receiving yards per game (53.7).

The sure-handed Economics major put his speed on display in the Leopards' last game of the season when he broke away for a 56-yard touchdown, the longest catch of his career. His 97 receiving yards against the Leopards' rival matched his previous best coming against Villanova in week four.

A Government and Law and Philosophy major, Mrazek (La Grange, Ill./Lyons Township) led the team in most receiving categories in 2016, making 71 catches for 755 yards and eight touchdowns, all career bests for the junior. The 71 catches are the fourth most in a season by a Lafayette player and his eight TDs are the seventh most in a single season.

Mrazek made three or more catches in every game, hitting high-water marks for the season with 11 catches for 109 yards and three touchdowns vs. Holy Cross in week five. That kicked off a three-game swing in which he averaged 9.7 catches and 94 yards per game against Holy Cross, Fordham and Army (Lafayette's first FBS opponent since 1997). In the season opener, Mrazek tied a school record for touchdowns in a game with three at Central Connecticut State and repeated the feat at Holy Cross four weeks later.

For his career, Mrazek has 141 receptions which rank him seventh all time while his 12 touchdowns place him eighth. Mrazek is 24 yards shy of reaching Lafayette's top 10 in career receiving yards.

Powe (Gurnee, Ill./Warren Township), who plays a hybrid defensive back/linebacker position was one of the most consistent contributors on that side of the ball. He finished the 2016 season third on the team in tackles (78) and second in tackles for loss (9.5 for 26 yards) with three sacks.

The Mechanical Engineering major reached double figures in tackles in three games (10 at Central Connecticut, 11 at Princeton and a career-high 12 vs. Georgetown) and had three tackles for loss against Villanova and Georgetown.
