WILMINGTON, N.C. -- The Lafayette offense was held to three hits in a 4-0 loss to UNC-Wilmington on Saturday morning in the Lafayette Ford Lincoln of Fayetteville Showcase.

The Seahawks' hurler, Haley Lenderman (2-0), struck out three and did not walk a batter over seven innings. Kristyn Marinelli (1-1) took to the circle for the second time in as many days, allowing three runs on seven hits with three walks and a strikeout over four innings. Lindsey Cherry finished out the game, surrendering a run on two hits with a walk in the fifth and sixth.

UNC-Wilmington scored all of the runs it needed in the bottom of the fourth. Kali Jones (single), Merritt Wilkinson (single) and Claudia Spinelli (double) all drove in runs for the 3-0 advantage. The Seahawks added an insurance run in the fifth, scoring on a bases-loaded groundout.

The Lafayette offense never really threatened, putting just three runners on during the game. The Leopards advanced Jenna Orlando into scoring position in the third and Allison Brown in the seventh, each time with two outs, but could not drive them in.

Lafayette will have a few hours off to recover before playing Delaware State at 3 p.m.
