Box Score

HAMILTON, N.Y. - Freshman Krista Kissell continued her strong rookie campaign with her third goal in five games played, but the Lafayette women's soccer team dropped a 4-1 contest on the road in Hamilton, N.Y. at Colgate on Saturday evening.

Kissell's goal came in the 77th minute of the contest, voiding the Raiders' shutout bid. Senior goalkeeper Kelly O'Brien was tested early and often, facing 33 shots on the night and making eight saves in her first full-game performance of the 2017 season.

The loss drops the Leopards to 3-6-2 overall and 1-3-1 in Patriot League action. Colgate improves to 7-4-1 and remains unbeaten in conference play at 4-0-1.

It didn't take long for the Raiders to get on the board as Mara Consentino scored the first of her three goals on the night just 51 seconds into action. Consentino added her second less than five minutes later off an assist from Abby Sotomayor to push it to 2-0 just 6:24 into action.

Consentino and Sotomayor beat the Leopards again in the 22nd minute to increase the Colgate lead to three into the halftime break. The fourth Raider tally was scored by Lindsey Wiley off a Consentino assist in the 56th minute, while Kissell's score was assisted by Alexa Buffa at 76:05 to make up the 4-1 final.

Much of the game was played in Lafayette's defensive end with Colgate holding a 33-4 shot advantage. Corners were 6-1 in favor of the home side, while the Raiders committed 10 fouls compared to the Leopards' six.

Next up for the Maroon and White is a return home on Monday evening, going out of conference to tangle with Columbia at 7 p.m.
