POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Marist snapped Lafayette softball's five-game win streak with a 9-0 decision in the first game of Wednesday's non-conference doubleheader.

The Red Foxes (31-19) scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back. Gabrielle Kelliher accounted for three of the four in the first inning when she belted a three-run home run.

The hosts added three more in the third inning and two in the fourth inning, including Jenna Korak's solo home run, for the five-inning final.

Maddie Wensel (third-inning single) and Brooke Wensel (fifth-inning single) recorded the Leopards' hits in the game against Kallen Leeseberg in the first four innings and Brooke Petersen in the final inning. Leeseberg (5-6) struck out four and walked four in the win.

Stacy Gordon (3-9) took the loss, allowing six earned runs on nine hits in 2.1 innings. Stephanie Thomas threw the final 1.2 innings for the Maroon and White, allowing two runs on four hits.

After today's second game vs. Marist, the Leopards (11-26) close out the 2017 season this weekend with a three-game series at Holy Cross.
