BOSTON, Mass. - The Leopards came out on top in a low scoring affair that went down to the wire on Wednesday evening in Case Gymnasium. The Maroon and White regained the lead with 3:24 to play and held on for a two-point victory against the Terriers of Boston U., walking away with a 47-45 win.

Lafayette got 17 points from Anna Ptasinski who tied her career-high with five made three-pointers, and did the majority of her damage in the Leopards 20-point outburst in the second quarter. The Leopards finished the night 18-for-44 (40%) from the floor while holding the Terriers to 16-for-51 (31%).

The Maroon and White improve to 8-11 on the year with a 4-5 mark in Patriot League play. The loss moves Boston U. to 8-11 overall and drops them to 3-6 in league play.

The game got off to a hot start as both teams were hitting from deep. Ptasinski got things started for the Leopards with a corner three at the eight-minute mark. Katie Nelson answered with a three of her own as the team's traded baskets down to the media timeout with Natalie Kucowski draining a three to level the score at 8-8 with 4:58 remaining on the clock. It was all Terriers for the remainder of the period as BU added eight unanswered to close out the opening stanza with the Leopards trailing 16-8.

Ptasinski answered for the Maroon and White to open the second quarter, dropping in back-to-back to treys to pull the Leopards back within two, 16-14. The game went back-and-forth from there before Ptasinski drained another three to tie it at 21-21 and force the Terriers into a timeout. Vanessa Edgehill struck first coming out of the break, but the Leopards answered immediately with an easy lay-in from Alexis Santarelli. Lafayette traded blows with the Terriers from there as the clock wound down on the first half. Ptasinski had the final say in the quarter, knocking down her fifth three-pointer of the game with 1:33 left on the clock to wrap-up the period and send the Leopards into the half-time break down by one, 29-28.

Boston U. came out firing to start the third, going on a 10-4 run over the first seven minutes to take a 39-32 lead heading into the media timeout. Corinne Williams hit 1-of-2 at the charity stripe to put the Terriers up 40-34, but Ellen Graham responded for the Leopards, dropping in a basket from the pull the Leopards within four to start the fourth quarter.

Baskets were hard to come by in the final stanza, but the Maroon and White outscored BU 11-5 in the fourth quarter. Drew Freeland knocked down back-to-back threes following a make from Nia Irving to knot the score at 42-42. Graham added a smooth up-and-under finish to put the Leopards up with five minutes left to play. BU responded with a three from Naiyah Thompson to go up 45-44, but Kucowski answered right back for the Maroon and White to put Lafayette up for good. Freeland added one from the charity stripe to put Lafayette up 47-45 with 10 seconds to play. The Terriers had one final chance but their attempt found nothing but air, sealing the Leopards win.

BU held the edge in rebounding, 34-39. The Leopards were able to take advantage of the Terriers' miscues to the tune of 13 points off of turnovers. Kucowski finished in double figures for the second straight game, adding 11 points. Graham finished with a career-high six blocks in the win.

The Leopards are back in action this Saturday when they welcome Holy Cross to Kirby Sports Center for a 2 p.m. Patriot League tilt.
