GREENWOOD, Ind. -
Alex Stanford of the Lafayette women's soccer team was named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District II Team, the College Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA) national office announced on Thursday. Stanford is now eligible for Academic All-America honors, which are released in December.Â
A senior captain and forward from Winchester, Va., Stanford started 16 of 17 contests for the Leopards in 2018 and led the team with 11 points on five goals and an assist. At the conclusion of the regular season she was named to the All-League third team as well as the Academic All-League team. She is the first Lafayette player to receive CoSIDA Academic All-District honors since Kaelin King ('17) was recognized in 2015.
In 58 career games, Stanford recorded 11 goals and three assists. She was named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week in back-to-back weeks in August.
A Biology major, she maintains a 3.76 cumulative grade-point average (GPA) and is also pursuing a minor in Health & Life Science. Stanford has also been a member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll each of the last three seasons.
The 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Women's Soccer Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.   Â
