NEW YORK, N.Y. - Lafayette participated in their inaugural Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Fencing Association event of these season and emerged with a 3-2 record in a round-robin competition Sunday at the Hunter College Sportsplex.
In addition to the host Hawks, the Leopards squared off against Army, NJIT, Stevens Tech and Yeshiva.
Lafayette lost the first two rounds against NJIT (21-6) and Stevens (24-3) before sweeping the final three against Hunter (14-13), Yeshiva (17-10) and Army (16-11).
Junior
Bora Mutis was 11-4 during the event, participating primarily in foil, while
Yiwen Cui (foil) and
Ian Miller (sabre) each went 10-5. Patrick Rekeita and Oliver Copeland also had winning records in 15 bouts of sabre action. Competing in epee for the Leopards were
Matthew Decker,
Jonathan Rosenblum and
Grahame Ung.
Both the Lafayette men and women will continue to train this fall before returning to competition on January 18 at the Penn Invite.
