KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Krista Kissell and Caitlin Balmer of the Lafayette Women's Soccer team were named to the 2019 United Soccer Coaches All-North Region squad, the organization announced this afternoon.  The North region is comprised of Division I players who participate in programs from the Big Ten, Horizon League, Northeast Conference and Patriot League.

Kissell, a junior, was selected as a second-team forward in the North Region. The Cresco, Pa. native was the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year and also a member of the 11-player Academic All-Patriot League squad.

A senior co-captain, Balmer was named to the North Region third team as a defender. The Sherborn, Mass. native was an All-Patriot League performer on defense for the Leopards.

Founded in 1941, The United Soccer Coaches organization has grown into the world's largest soccer coaches' group and serves members at every level of the game. The intent of the All-Region team and other in-season and post-season awards is to stimulate greater interest in men's and women's soccer and to recognize programs and individuals that are enjoying remarkable success on a regional and national level.
