EASTON, Pa. – Army scored five runs in the first two innings to pull away for an 8-0 win over Lafayette softball in the series finale on Sunday at Metzgar Fields.

Army starter Renee Poirier (2-2) limited the Leopard offense to three hits (singles by
Maddie Wensel,
Malori Pojar and
Brooke Wensel) on the blustery afternoon. Poirier struck out seven Leopard batters in the six-inning game.

The Black Knights (15-19, 4-2) got to Leopard starter
Stacy Gordon for two runs in the first on Taylor Drayton's home run and three in the second inning. Drayton, Ashley Yoo and Ally Snelling (3-for-3) each plated runs in that second frame which saw Gordon (4 ER, 4 H) depart after the first two batters of the inning singled.

Kinzi Van Wyk worked the final five innings of the game in the circle for the Leopards, allowing four runs on five hits.

Army added two runs on two hits in the fifth and then finished off the game with a lone score in the top of the sixth.

Lafayette (3-22-1, 1-5) next hosts La Salle in a doubleheader on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
