MADISON, N.J. — The Lafayette men's fencing team emerged from the 2019 Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Fencing Association (MACFA) Championship with an eighth-place finish among 15 teams. The event was held on Sunday afternoon at the Simon Forum and Athletic Center on the campus of Drew University.
The Leopards performance was punctuated by a sixth place team placement in sabre by
Patrick Rekieta,
Ian Miller and Carolyn Feigels.
The top Lafayette individual placewinner was
Bora Mutis, a sophomore from Ankara, Turkey, who finished sixth in the men's foil competition.
Mutis is one of 11 members of the men's and women's fencing squads that will be participating in the 2019 NCAA Mid-Atlantic/South Fencing Regionals that will be hosted on Saturday, March 9 in the
Kirby Sports Center at Lafayette College.
