Women's Basketball Returns Home to Face Army

The Leopards are looking for a regular-season sweep of the Black Knights

OPENING TIP:
*Lafayette fell to crosstown rivals Lehigh on Saturday 73-66. Junior Natalie Kucowski recorded her 14th double double of the season putting up 22 points and pulling down 19 boards. Three other Leopards put up double digits with junior Drew Freeland putting up 15, senior Sarah Agnello putting up 14 and senior Alexis Santarelli putting up 12.

*Despite the loss, the Leopards still remain at the top of the Patriot League standings. They now sit in a three-way tie for third with Lehigh and Boston University.

*Lafayette defeated Army in the first meeting this season. Army leads the all-time series and prior to the Leopards Jan. 22nd win over the Black Knights, the Black Knights had won the previous nine meetings.

*Junior Natalie Kucowski still continues to dominate the national leaderboard, still leading the nation in rebounds per game and defensive rebounds per game.

SCOUTING THE BLACK KNIGHTS
Since the Leopards and Black Knights last meeting, Army has gone on to drop its last four games. Its lone Patriot League win came against Holy Cross on Jan. 15.

Sophomore's Lindsey Scamman and Alisa Fallon both lead the Black Knights in scoring, averaging 12.3 points per game. Scamman also leads the Black Knights in rebounds, averaging 9.7 per game and blocks (12.0).

The Black Knights are second in the league in three-point field goal defense, defensive rebound percentage and first in three-point field goals made. Scramman is fourth in the league in rebounding and third in defensive rebounds and sophomores Sarah Bohn and Kate Murray are tied for third in three-point field goal percentage.

THE LAST MEETING
The first matchup between Lafayette and Army this season was back on Jan. 22 in West Point, New York.

Junior Natalie Kucowski got the momentum going for the Leopards in the third quarter with a layup off an assist from sophomore Nicole Johnson. Junior Drew Freeland followed Kucowski's layup with a layup of her own and floated in a three-pointer right after that to bring the Leopards within one, 31-30.

Less than 30 second later senior Sarah Agnello gave the Leopards their first lead of the game, 32-31, on a layup off an assist by Kucowski.

Army retook the lead, 39-37 and pushed it out to 41-37 before Johnson came up big with a three to put Lafayette back in the lead heading into the final frame.

Two back-to-back fouls by the Black Knights put both Johnson and Kucowski at the charity stripe, both making both of their shots with 13 seconds left in the game to secure the win.

REBOUNDING QUEEN
On Jan. 8, junior Natalie Kucowski pulled down 12 rebounds pushing her career rebounding total to 856, making her the program's all-time leading rebounder.

On Saturday at Lehigh, Kucowski pulled down 19 boards to put her career total at 936 - 64 away from 1,000 career rebounds.

If she hits 1,000 career rebounds, she will be the first in program history to have recorded 1,000 career rebounds and points.

MOVIN' ON UP
On Jan. 11 junior Natalie Kucowski eclipsed the 1,000 point mark, making her the 19th player in program history to hit the milestone.

Her 22 points on Saturday puts her scoring total at 1,079 and moving her into 15th all-time.

SAME FIVE
For the last thirteen games, the Leopards have had the same starting five - seniors Alexis Santarelli and Sarah Agnello, juniors Natalie Kucowski and Drew Freeland and sophomore Nicole Johnson. The starting five is averaging a combined 45.3 points per game, 26.2 rebounds per game and 9.5 assists per game.

HOT AT HOME
The last time the Leopards lost at home was on Nov. 17 when they fell to Duquesne, 73-65, in overtime. Since then, they have won their last eight at home.
