CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - The Patriot League Council of Presidents announced decisions regarding the fall sports seasons on Monday morning, including that teams will not engage in competition this fall.
"Our student-athletes, coaches, and staff have been incredibly patient as we have explored a path to engage in competitions during the fall season," said Lafayette Director of Athletics Sherryta Freeman. "While we all would have preferred a different outcome, we recognize there is a larger global issue that requires our full attention and share in their disappointment that the uncertainty caused by COVID-19 has resulted in this necessary measure."Â
"The League is committed to exploring creative approaches and alternatives to providing future competitive experiences to our fall sport student-athletes, including the possibility of conducting fall sport competition and championships in the second semester," the Patriot League announcement addressed.
"We remain concerned about the well-being of all our Leopards here and afar. Like me, I am sure you are all anxious and excited to see our teams compete again," Freeman added. "With a commitment to enhancing our togetherness as a community and a shared drive to achieve our goal of creating a championship culture on the horizon, we will be ready when the time is right."Â
