Madison, N.J. Lafayette participated in the first of four Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Fencing Association events scheduled for this season, and won three of its five matches on Sunday at Drew University.
The Leopards were victorious against Yeshiva (22-6), Army (18-9) and Hunter (26-1). Lafayette dropped matches to NJIT (17-10) and Stevens (17-10).Â
The Leopards had a strong showing on Sunday, with six of Lafayette's eleven fencers winning more than half of their matches. Freshman Benito Hergert (foil) led the Leopards with a record of 12-3, followed by Amir Whitehead (foil) with a finish of 11-3. William Mcalpine (saber), Matthew Decker (saber), Chris Davis (foil) and Antoine Mannes (epee) all completed the day with records of 11-4.  Also competing for Lafayette were Riley Anderson, Brooke Lippe, Grahame Ung and Abby Schlotterbeck.Â
The next competition for both the Lafayette men and women will be on January 22 when they travel to the University of Pennsylvania for the Penn Invite.
