STATE COLLEGE, PA. - The Lafayette fencing team continued its 2021-22 campaign by participating in the Penn State Open over the weekend at Multi-Sport Indoor Facility.
Freshman Zoe O'Connor finished in 27th place in the women's epee on Saturday. She had a 4-7 record in pool play. Also, in women's epee, senior Lily Manetta finished 40th and senior Elise Hummel was 42nd.
Senior Carolyn Feigeles was the Leopards top finisher in women's sabre in 36th place with a 5-7 record in pool play, while senior Bella Moger was T-37 and 3-8 in pool play. Freshman Brooke Lippe  and sophomore Amanda Manubag placed 45th and T-46, respectively.
Sophomore Abby Schlotterbeck finished in 40th place in women's foil. Junior Danielle Long finished 46th and freshman Anna Silver was 48th.
In men's action on Sunday, freshman Benito Hergert  finished in 28th place in men's foil and was 4-7 in pool play. Freshman Antoine Mannes was the top Lafayette fencer in the men's epee, where he finished T-31 with a 6-5 record in pool play. Senior William Mcalpine was 27th in men's sabre for the Leopards.
Also competing on Sunday for Lafayette were sophomore Riley Anderson  (43rd) and junior Grahame Ung (45th) in men's epee. Junior Matthew Decker was 28th in men's sabre, and freshman Chris Davis and freshman Amir Whitehead placed T-35 and 37th respectively in men's foil.
The Leopards are next in action on Sunday, November 14th at the Vassar Invite in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
