Freeland Earns Spot On Academic All-Patriot League Team

Senior guard carries a 3.69 GPA as an Engineering major

EASTON, Pa. – Senior guard Drew Freeland of the Lafayette women's basketball team has been named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team, the league office announced Friday afternoon. 

This is Freeland's first time earning Academic All-Patriot League honors after being named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll in both 2018-19 and 2019-20. Freeland is a Mechanical Engineering major who has posted a 3.69 GPA. 

To be eligible for Academic All-Patriot League honors, student-athletes must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade-point average and be a starter or key reserve. Freshmen are not eligible for the honor.

This season, Freeland has averaged 8.8 points per game and 3.9 rebounds per game while shooting .447 from beyond the arc (17-38). The Roanoke, Va. native has started in all 12 games for the Leopards this season. She made her 100th career start on Sunday, making her the just the 10th player in program history to start 100 games. 

Freeland ranks second in the league in three-point field goal percentage (.447), ninth in the league in minutes played (34.5 per game) and 11th in the league in three-point field goals made. She leads the Leopards in three-point field goals (17 made). 

Freeland and the Leopards will be playing Boston University in the Patriot League Tournament quarterfinals on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Boston University.
