BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Juniors
Justin Johnson and
Dylan Minghini of the Lafayette baseball team have each earned a spot on the Patriot League All-Academic team, the league office announced Friday.
To be eligible for the Academic All-League team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or key player in his/her sport. Freshmen are not eligible for this honor.
Johnson holds a 3.66 cumulative GPA while majoring in Mathematics and Economics. Heading into postseason play, the junior shortstop is batting .300 while totaling 27 hits including seven doubles, a triple and a home run, knocking in 13 RBIs. He is a two-time Patriot League Academic Honor Roll member. The Glen Gardner, New Jersey, native was also named a Patriot League First Team selection earlier this week.
Minghini holds a 3.85 cumulative GPA as a Mechanical Engineering major. The junior catcher is batting .223 so far throughout the regular season, totaling 21 hits, including five doubles and three home runs, while recording 22 RBIs. He is also a two-time Patriot League Academic Honor Roll member.
Lafayette finished the regular season with a 13-15 overall record and a 12-13 record in Patriot League action, earning the third seed in the 2021 Patriot League Tournament. They are set to take on No. 2 Army in the Patriot League Tournament Semifinals in West Point on Saturday and Sunday in a best of three game series. Â
