Six Leopards Named to All-Patriot League Soccer Teams

Kitromilides selected to first team

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lafayette men's soccer team landed six players on the All-Patriot League teams, the league office announced Friday afternoon.

Senior forward Marcos Kitromilides was named to the First Team.

Kitromilides has been a consistent threat often off the bench. He leads the Leopards with eight goals, five game-winning goals and one assist totaling 17 points. The Nicosia, Cyprus native has played in 17 games, making five starts. The Economics major ranks second in the Patriot League for total goals and first in game-winning goals.

Junior midfielder Hale Lombard, senior defender Nick Hazel and senior goalkeeper Alex Sutton were all named to the second team.

Lombard has scored six times thus far for the Leopards, totaling 12 points. The Belleair Bluffs, Fla. native has been a force on the offense and in the midfield since he first put on the Lafayette jersey in 2019. The Government and Law major often connects with Will Echeverria's long-range throw-in on goal and heads it into the back of the net.

Hazel has helped anchor the Leopards' defense, while only allowing opponents to put in 11 goals this season thus far. The Roebling, N.J. native has played in every game, logging 1,500 minutes. The center back and his goalkeeper, Sutton, have helped the Leopards hold the second best goals-against average in the league.

Sutton has been the backbone of the Lafayette defense and also a catalyst to the offense this season. The New York, N.Y. native has made 36 saves, has a goals-against average of 0.69 and a save percentage of 0.766. The Economic major has six shutouts and was named Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week on Oct. 3. Sutton provides the Leopards with many offensive opportunities and often becomes a pass option in the backfield.

Sophomore forward Lawrence Aydlett and senior defender Will Echeverria were named to the All-Patriot League Third Team.

Aydlett has converted four goals and two assists for 10 points. The Reisterstown, Md. native has fit comfortably into the Lafayette offense as a sophomore and was named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 12.

Echeverria has not only been a solid defender for the Leopards, he has also been a tremendous offensive threat. The Longmeadow, Mass. native has provided seven assists off of his long-range throw-in. Between Echeverria, Hazel and Sutton's fifth-year leadership on the back-line, the Leopards have a goals-against average per game of 0.889.

The Leopards open up the Patriot League Tournament at 7 p.m. on Saturday at Navy.
