BALTIMORE, Md. – Quinnipiac scored three runs in the third inning to claim a 4-3 final over Lafayette softball on Saturday afternoon in the UMBC Spring Invite.
 
The Leopards spotted Quinnipiac a run in the top of the first but did not trail for long. Lafayette pushed across three scores in the bottom of the second. Kaili Reitano doubled with one out in the inning. Jasmine Nguyen singled to put runners on the corners. Reitano and Nguyen both scored on a wild pitch for the 2-1 lead before extending the lead 3-1 via Harlie Bickett's RBI-double. Bickett finished the game 2-for-4.
 
In the visitor third, Quinnipiac re-took the lead with three runs on three hits, including RBI-doubles by Taylor Walton and Hannah Davis.
 
The Leopards had a chance to tie the game in the fourth inning, putting runners on the corners with two outs, before a lineout ended the inning.  
 
Quinnipiac reliever Sydney Horan held the Lafayette lineup in check over the final five innings, retiring the Leopards in order in the fifth, sixth and seventh. Horan struck out one and walked one. Kinzi Van Wyk allowed four runs on seven hits and struck out two in the circle for the Leopards.
 
Lafayette closes out Saturday action vs. Towson at 2:15 p.m.
