MADISON, N.J. The Lafayette men's fencing team completed its regular season on Sunday at the Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Fencing Association Championship hosted by Drew University inside the Rangers' Simon Forum. The Leopards finished in seventh place overall and placed fourth in foil, ninth in sabre and tenth in epee. The Leopards had four student-athletes finish in the top 16 of their respective disciplines.
Freshman
Benito Hergert led the men with a strong 2nd place finish in the foil competition, while freshman
Amir Whitehead finished 15
th in foil. Freshman
Antoine Mannes finished 9
th in epee, and senior
Matthew Decker finished 16
th in sabre. This quartet of Leopards have qualified for the NCAA Mid-Atlantic/South Regional.
Rounding out the Mid-Atlantic/South Regional qualifiers on the men's side were freshman
Chris Davis (foil) and senior
William Mcalpine (sabre). The Lafayette men will be joined by a trio of sabre specialists from the women's team in sophomore
Amanda Manubag, senior
Bella Moger and senior
Carolyn Feigeles, along with freshman
Zoe O'Connor who will represent the Leopards in epee.
Lafayette continues its season on March 12 when they travel to Princeton University to compete in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic/South Regional inside the Tiger's Jadwin Gymnasium.
