EASTON, Pa. – The Lafayette College men's lacrosse team fell on Senior Day by a 9-5 final at the hands of Navy on Saturday afternoon inside Fisher Stadium.
Senior
Cole Dutton recorded his third career hat-trick with three goals in his final home game on College Hill.
After a scoreless opening quarter, the Midshipmen wasted little time in the second period to break the scoreless tie at the 14:38 mark. They would go on to score four-unanswered before Dutton netted his first of the afternoon to spark a 3-0 Leopards run to make it 4-3 early in the third quarter.
Navy would go on to score the next four to extend its lead to 8-3 with just 6:10 to play in regulation before Dutton scored back-to-back goals, just over a minute apart to make it 8-5.
Lafayette forced Navy into 20 turnovers on the afternoon, causing 10 and the Leopards converted on their sole man-up opportunity.
Sophomore
Peter Lehman and freshman
Liam Sargent were the other two goal-scorers for the Maroon and White while sophomore
Kalman Kraham added two assists. Freshman
Cade Kilbride forced three turnovers on the defensive end, while grabbing three ground balls.
Freshman netminder
Gabe Cummins made 10 saves in goal for Lafayette while Navy's Nick Cole and Dane Swanson each recorded three goals.
Prior to the contest, Lafayette honored its nine seniors and their families on the field.
One more Patriot League opponent is on the schedule for Lafayette, traveling to Bucknell for a Friday night matchup before the season-finale at Virginia on April 28.
