Kaya Ciccone-Cozart and senior
Kinzi Van Wyk each connected for home runs on Sunday vs. Lehigh, but saw the Mountain Hawks claim a 7-6 final in extra innings.

The series finale was close throughout. The Leopards struck first, scoring three runs in the top of the second inning. Van Wyk led off the inning with her first home run of the season and the second of her career. With two runners aboard and one out,
Jasmine Nguyen went the other way to single home
Julia Roman who had doubled to reach base. The Leopards also scored on a throwing error by the Lehigh shortstop for the 3-0 lead.

The lead was short-lived, as Lehigh answered with three of its own in the bottom half of the second. Amanda Greaney (double) and Addie Kittel (two-run homer) contributed the offense for the Mountain Hawks to tie the game.

Lehigh snatched the lead in the fourth inning. Greaney (sac fly) and Kittel (groundout) again drove in runs as Lehigh reached Leopard starter Jacqueline for a pair of scores on four hits to lead 5-3.

After the hosts added another run in the sixth, Lafayette trailed 6-3 going into the top of the seventh inning.
Natasha Miner (hit by pitch) and
Grace Harvey (single) were both aboard with two outs in the inning. Ciccone-Cozart came through with her biggest hit of the weekend, a three-run home run to left field that knotted the game at 6-6.

Van Wyk, who was in the circle in relief of Cal, retired the heart of the order in the bottom of the seventh to advance the game to extra innings.

The Leopards sent the bottom of the order to the plate in the eighth inning and were retired in order by Katelyn Young.

In the home half of the eighth, Kittel reached on a one-out single. With runners on first and second, Carley Barjaktarovich laid down a bunt that got past Van Wyk and Ciccone-Cozart charging from first. Romano picked up the slow roller after getting back from covering first base, but the throw to the plate was not in time as Lehigh closed out the 7-6 final.

Van Wyk took the loss, allowing two runs on four hits with a pair of K's. Young surrendered three runs on five hits with four strikeouts in the circle victory.

Lafayette returns to action on Wednesday, hosting Wagner in a doubleheader at 3 p.m.
