Bucknell Takes Final Home Softball Series

Lafayette travels to Marist on Wednesday for a doubleheader

EASTON, Pa. – Lafayette softball dropped its final contest against Bucknell 2-0 on Sunday afternoon at the Metzgar Fields Athletic Complex.
 
The game was scoreless until the top of the sixth inning, when Bucknell senior Nicole Rivait hit a home run to left field. Junior Chase Knapp reached base on a fielder's choice and then advanced to second on a ground out by freshman Jessie Kincer. Freshman Bella Radican hit an RBI-single that scored Knapp from second, giving the Bison a 2-0 lead.

Lafayette had three base runners in the game. In the first inning, junior Grace Harvey lined a double down the left field line. Freshman Harlie Bickett hit a double to left field in the fourth inning, and in the sixth inning Bickett was hit by a pitch. 

Lafayette starter senior Kinzi Van Wyk went 5.2 innings, allowing two runs on six hits. She struck out one and walked two.

Bucknell junior Olivia Marinelli and senior Kelly Toomey combined for a two-hit shutout. Marinelli started the game and went 3.0 innings, giving up two hits and striking out three. Toomey was credited with the win, going 4.0 innings while striking out six.

Lafayette is back in action on Wednesday, traveling to Marist for a doubleheader at 2 p.m.
