Leopards Look for Four In-a-Row

Lafayette vs. Colgate game notes

THE OPENING TIP
*    Lafayette College and women's basketball are celebrating National Girls and Women in Sports Day today against Colgate.

*    In the last meeting, the Raiders defeated Lafayette 49-47 in Easton. Colgate leads the all-time series 39-38.

*    With a strong fourth quarter, the Leopards stretched their win streak to three, beating Loyola 39-35 on Wednesday night at Reitz Arena. Junior guard Makayla Andrews led the Leopards with her 14th game of the season in double-figures. She netted 13 points while adding six rebounds.

*    Lafayette heads to Bethlehem next Saturday for its second match-up with Lehigh at 4 p.m.

NATIONAL GIRLS AND WOMEN IN SPORTS DAY GAME
    Lafayette College is celebrating National Girls and Women in Sports Day today. NGWSD began in 1987 to recognize women's sports and to bring national attention to the promise of girls and women in sports.
    Prior to today's game, all female student-athletes were invited to attend a panel with Heidi Caruso Commins '94, former basketball and soccer standout and maroon Club Hall of Fame selection. Commins was tabbed as one of the Patriot League Trailblazers of Distinction
    Lafayette athletics hosted a pre-game clinic for local girls, hosted by the Leopards' female sports teams.

SCOUTING COLGATE
    Colgate is is 10-10 overall and 4-5 in Patriot League play this season. The Raiders have league wins over Lehigh, Bucknell, Navy, and Army, with losses occuring against Loyola, Boston U. (x2 and Holy Cross.
    Sophomore guard Taylor Golembiewski leads Colgate in scoring and rebounding, averaging 12.2 ppg and 4.1 rpg. Senior guard Alexa Brodie leads the Raiders in assists per game, doling out 2.9 per outing.

ANOTHER WEDNESDAY WIN
    The Leopards have earned five out of their seven wins on Wednesdays. This past Wednesday, Lafayette defeated Loyola in the final minutes in Baltimore. Lafayette's other Wednesday wins throughout the season have occurred against UMBC, St. Francis Brooklyn and Navy. The two other games won occurred on a Friday and Saturday, against NJIT and Lehigh.

THREE IN-A-ROW
    The Leopards have won three consecutive Patriot League games over the past two week. All three wins were decided in an exciting fashion in the final minutes. On Jan. 18, Lafayette's win streak started as the Leopards edged American 59-57 for the annual School Day Game. Lafayette secured a 63-60 upset against Lehigh in the 104th meeting of The Rivalry on Jan. 21. On Wednesday, the Leopards netted 19 points in the fourth quarter to defeat Loyola 39-35.

ANDREWS IN DOUBLE FIGURES
    Junior guard Makayla Andrews has scored in double figures in four consecutive games: Holy Cross (10), American (19), Lehigh (21) and Loyola (13). The Neptune, N.J. native has scored in double figures in 14 out of 19 games.

ANTOGNOLI ON THE BOARDS
    Sophomore Abby Antognoli tied a career-high nine rebounds against American on Jan. 18. In the guard's first game back against Boston U. on Jan. 5 following an injury, Antognoli reached her career high in rebounds. In the contest, Antognoli also had 12 points, five assists and one steal.
