SCOUTING BOSTON U.
The Terriers are 7-6 (2-0 PL) on the season. They edged common opponent St. Francis Brooklyn (72-61), and are 2-0 in Patriot League play, defeating Navy (62-39) and Bucknell (68-47). Boston U. finished 17-14 (12-6 PL) last season, losing to American in the Patriot League Tournament semifinal.
Junior forward Caitlin Weimar is the leading scorer and rebounder, averaging 13.7 ppg and 11.1 rpg. Senior guard Sydney Johnson is 10 points away from scoring her 1,000th career point.
LAST TIME OUT
The Lafayette women's basketball team opened 2023 with a 75-56 loss to Army on Monday afternoon.
Senior Jess Booth led the Leopards with 18 points, while junior
Makayla Andrews joined her in double figures with 14. Army had two in double figures led by Sabria Hunter with 20 points and Reese Ericson who had 16 on 67 percent shooting while adding four three's.
The first quarter was relatively evenly matched, aside from the Leopards outshooting Army 40-14 percent from beyond the arc. Army ended the quarter on-top 19-14.
As the game moved to the second quarter, the Black Knights put together a 7-0 run from 8:11 to 6:52, giving them a 10 point lead at 26-16.
Army stretched the margin to 18 the end of the second quarter to lead 40-22 at halftime. Hunter led the Black Knights with 14 points.
As the second half opened, a 7-0 run helped pull the Leopards within 11, 40-29.
Halee Smith drained a three, while Andrews and Booth each netted a layup to put the Leopards down 40-29 at 8:00.
Army outscored Lafayette 14-6 over the balance of the third quarter and led 54-35.
Lafayette opened the final quarter with a 11-6 run to cut the deficit 60-46 with seven minutes left in the game. Booth put up three layups and Andrews netted two, while freshman guard
Sauda Ntaconayigize added a free throw.
Army outrebounded Lafayette 49-27, leading to 16 second chance points.
BOOTH ON A ROLL
Senior guard Jess Booth has scored in double figures in three consecutive games, including the Leopards' first two Patriot League contests. The Columbia, Md. native put up 18 points against St. Francis Brooklyn, 11 at American and 18 at Army.
Booth is currently averaging 9.7 ppg, 3.1 rpg and 3.9 apg. The senior ranks second in the conference in assists per game behind Lehigh's Anna Harvey (4.6).
STEPPING UP

Abby Antognoli, as the guard has been day-to-day with an injury. Favours and Booth have scored in double figures in the two games that Antognoli has been sidelined. On Dec. 30 at American, Andrews tied a career-high 23 points while adding seven rebounds, two steals and one block.
FAVOURS FIRST START
Sophomore guard
Kylie Favours started for the first time in her career against St. Francis Brooklyn, putting up a career-high 18 points in the 53-52 win. The Old Bridge, N.J. native stepped into the starting role with confidence as she drained multiple momentum changing threes, going 50 percent (4-for-8) from beyond the arc.
SCHOOL DAY GAME
The Leopards will host a School Day Game on Jan. 18 vs. American. Lafayette College will welcome sixth and seventh graders from the Easton School District.
NATIONAL GIRLS AND WOMEN IN SPORTS DAY GAME
Lafayette College will be celebrating National Girls and Women in Sports Day on Jan. 28 with a clinic hosted by the Leopards' female sports teams. The clinic will run from 11 a.m . - 1 p.m. and is free for girls in grades 3-7. Stay for pizza and the women's basketball game at 2 p.m. to celebrate NGWSD. There will be post-game autographs following the game!
