THE OPENING TIP

Abby Antognoli led the Leopards to victory with 23 points while

SCOUTING COLGATE
Colgate is 13-13 overall and 7-8 in Patriot League play this season. The Raiders are currently in sixth place in the conference with the Leopards following in tow. On Saturday, Colgate upset Holy Cross 60-56 in Worcester.
Similar to the last meeting between the Leopards and Raiders, sophomore guard Taylor Golembiewski is the leading scorer (12.2) and rebounder (4.2). Alexa Brodie continues to be Colgate's main feeder, dishing out 2.68 assists per game.
LAST TIME OUT
Army got off to a quick offensive start and never slowed, pulling away to a 72-51 final over Lafayette women's basketball on Saturday at Kirby Sports Center.
Two players reached double figures for the Leopards, paced by
Makayla Andrews with 14 points and nine rebounds and
Halee Smith with 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting.
Kay Donahue continued with quality minutes, adding nine points, five rebounds and a pair of steals.
It was the annual Play4Kay game on College Hill, as the Leopards debuted their pink uniforms, signifying their support for women fighting cancer and in honor of Kay Yow and the Kay Yow Cancer Fund which is dedicated to fighting all cancers affecting women. Lafayette honored breast cancer survivors in attendance at the game.
Army came out hot, shooting 59 percent from the floor in the first quarter to take a 27-13 lead. The Black Knights hit 6-of-7 three-pointers, with Reese Ericson and Lauren Lithgow each accounting for two, and led by as many as 15 in the opening quarter.
The Leopards cut into the lead several times in the first half on three layups, trimming it to 10 points on each occasion. The final 10-point margin came at 5:12 on a Smith layup as Lafayette trailed 36-26.
The visitors closed the half with a 6-2 clip to lead 43-28 going into the locker room. Ericson led the way for Army with 14 points that included four three-pointers.
Abby Antognoli and Smith each dropped in seven for the Leopards in the opening half.
Army maintained its margin through the second half, buoyed by a balanced scoring effort that included 17 from Sabria Hunter, 14 from Ericson, 11 from Natalie Rhine and 10 from Lithgow.
The visitors held a significant advantage on the glass, out-rebounding Lafayette 48-27 while also limiting the Leopards' offense to 36 percent shooting on the afternoon.
SENIOR DAY
Senior guard Jess Booth will be honored prior to the Bucknell game on Feb. 25 at 2 p.m. Booth has played in 59 games in her career, accumulating 567 points.
ANDREWS STAYS STEADY
Junior guard
Makayla Andrews averaged 15 points last week with a 16-point outing against Loyola and netting 14 points and grabbing 9 boards against Army.
The Neptune, N.J. native has scored in double figures in 19 out of 25 games, including five outings with 20 or more points.
DONAHUE STEPPING UP
Freshman guard
Kay Donahue has stepped up at point guard over the last six games, averaging 25 mpg. Prior to Colgate on Jan. 28, Donahue was averaging only 8.5 mpg.
The rookie had a career-high nine-point outing against Army on Saturday.
FINAL STRETCH
Including Wednesday's game, the Leopards have three regular-season games remaining in the 2022-23 season. Lafayette only has one game left at Kirby Sports Center on Saturday at 2 p.m. The opening round of the Patriot League Tournament begins on March 4.
ANOTHER WEDNESDAY WIN
The Leopards have earned five out of their eight wins on Wednesdays. On Jan. 25, Lafayette defeated Loyola in the final minutes in Baltimore. Lafayette's other Wednesday wins throughout the season have occurred against UMBC, St. Francis Brooklyn and Navy. The three other games won were on a Friday or Saturday, against NJIT, Lehigh and Colgate.
