Field Hockey Announces the Class of 2028

Seven incoming Leopards are set to join the squad this fall

EASTON, Pa. - Head coach Jennifer Stone announced the addition of seven first-year players to the field hockey roster for the 2024 season on Thursday morning.

"We are so excited to welcome the LCFH Class of 2028 to College Hill. The group brings a wealth of experience, athleticism, composure, and character to the culture and legacy of Lafayette Field Hockey," Stone said. "Laila, Kiley, Sophie, Olivia, Addison, Coco, and Mia will arrive on Rappolt Field from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia, and as far as Germany. This group will add immediate talent and depth to all lines, and most importantly, are fantastic young women to join our returners. Welcome Home, Leopards!"

#1 Olivia Krey | M | Blue Bell, Pa. | Germantown Academy
Krey has four years of varsity experience as a midfielder and a forward for Germantown. She was a two-time All-Inter-Academic League Second Team selection, the 2023 Most Valuable Player and earned the 2023 Kelso High Scorer Award. The Blue Bell, Pa. native received the 2021 Owen J. Roberts Memorial Prize and secured four years of High Honors. She is a member of the Germantown Academy Cum Laude Society, Spanish National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta and the Science National Honor Society.

Krey served as a senior leader of the Germantown Academy Community Service Organization and led the Relay for Life Club, organizing events to raise funds for the American Cancer Society. She has club experience with WC Eagles in Spring City, Pa. under Richard and Jun Kentwell. Her father, Don, played soccer at Scranton. In her free time, she plays the guitar and piano, while also being a certified SCUBA diver.

#13 Mia Freeman | M/F | Downingtown, Pa. | Downingtown West
Freeman lists four years of varsity experience at each position while playing for Downingtown West, which was a four-time Chesmont champion, the 2022 District champion, the 2023 District runner-up and had four state playoff appearances. In her junior season, she made Second Team All-League and was an All-State Honorable Mention. During her senior year, she claimed First Team All-State, All-League and All-Area honors. Freeman is a member of the Spanish Honor Society, Student Council, and the Student-Athlete Leadership Committee.

She plays club for WC Eagles in Spring City, Pa. under Richard and Jun Kentwell. In her free time, she is a volunteer for Downingtown Unites Mental Health 5k and works at an ice cream shop. Her father, James, played baseball for multiple institutions, while her siblings were all collegiate athletes: JJ, baseball at Franklin; Nikki, field hockey at Virginia; Alyssa, field hockey at American.

#14 Kiley Gallagher | M/F | Haverford, Pa. | Episcopal Academy
Gallagher was a three-sport athlete at Episcopal, playing two years of varsity lacrosse, one year of short distance track and four years of field hockey as a defender and midfielder. For field hockey, the team was the 2021 and 2022 Inter-Academic champions, the 2021 PAISAA champion and a 2022 PAISAA finalist. Gallagher earned an All-Delco honorable mention and was a two-time Second Team All-Inter-AC selection.

She took the National Latin Exam (Cum Laude) and is a counselor for Episcopal Academy Aftercare. In her free time, she enjoys drawing. Her sisters, Taryn and Colby, played lacrosse and lacrosse/squash for Yale and Cornell, respectively.

#16 Laila Pasic | M/F | Chatham, N.J. | Oak Knoll
Pasic played two years of varsity field hockey and four years of varsity ice hockey at Oak Knoll, both as a forward. She also recorded one season of junior-varsity track and lacrosse. For field hockey, the senior captain helped the team earn three county, two conference and one state championship during her career. Krey received multiple individual awards: 2023 Third Team All-State, 2022-23 First Team All-State Non-Public, 2023 First Team All-Conference, 2022 Second Team All-Conference, 2022-23 First Team All-County and 2021 Second Team All-County.

She has outdoor and indoor club experience with New Heights in Chatham, N.J. under coach Ahmed Elmaghraby and Tarek Kouta. In her free time, she volunteers with the Srebrenica Memorial Center, spending time in Dubrovnik, Croatia every summer. Pasic earned Honor Roll all four semesters and is an Alumni board member and a camp counselor. Her father, Miro, played ice hockey at Princeton.  

#18 Sophie McAvoy | M/F | Pasadena, Md. | Garrison Forest
McAvoy was a two-sport athlete for Garrison Forest, completing varsity seasons for field hockey and golf. Her high school team were the IAAM A Conference champions in 2022 and 2023, following a runner-up season in 2021. The golf team were crowned the IAAM B Conference champions in 2022 while she was an All-Conference honoree. McAvoy lists many honors with the field hockey program: IAAM A Conference All Team 2023, Baltimore Sun First Team All-Metro 2023, NFHCA MidAtlantic All Region First Team 2023, MaxFH Mid-Atlantic All-Region Second Team 2023, Maryland Coaches Association All-State Second Team Midfielder, MaxFH HS Invitational Top Performer 2023, NFHCA PreSeason Watch List 2023 and NFHCH HS National Academic Savad 2023.

She made High Honor Roll all four years, while participating in the Garrison Forest Cum Lauder Society as and ASCE and ASHE scholarship recipient. McAvoy was the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Student of the Year from 2021-22 in the member hall of fame, the elite $10K Club and the second-place team. She earned the State of Maryland Governors Service Award with Chartwell Group Leadership and interned with Gilbane Construction Company during the summer. The Pasadena, Md. native was a member of two club teams, Warhawks with coaches Nimi Smith, Morgan Bitting and Candice Russ as well as Freedom HKY under coaches Kyler Greenwalt, Noelle Frost, Kasey Tapman-Asper and Rachel Dawson. In her free time, she enjoys traveling with her family.

#24 Coco Pelz | D | Hamburg, Germany | Gymnasium Eppendorf
In 2015, Pelz aided Gymnasium Eppendorf to a third-place finish at the Hamburg School Championships in outdoor and indoor field hockey. The following year, the team took first place in both programs. She was the winner of the 2019 Jugend Forsicht regional biology competition before securing fourth place nationally. Pelz has been a two-year member of the school conference, the highest body in the school, elected by previous members.

The Hamburg, Germany native has been a coach for the school field hockey team in all age groups for the girls and boys programs. She participated on the HTHC U18 team, competing in international tournaments in the Netherlands and has won the Hamburg, North-German and German Championships in 2023. In her free time, Pelz enjoys riding horses with her friends.

#99 Addison Kahn | GK | Fredericksburg, Va. | Stafford
Kahn was a two-sport athlete for Stafford, totaling two years of lacrosse and four years of field hockey. In 2021, the field hockey program earned State runner-up. She is a four-time Commonwealth District champion and a two-time Region 5 champion, named to the All-District Team in 2022. As a two-year varsity captain, she received the Unsung Hero award in 2023. Kahn earned Honor Roll all four years and graduated Summa Cum Laude.

She was the AP Comparative Government Student and AP Physics II Student of the Year. The Fredericksburg, Va. native was a member of the National Honor Society, National Math Honor Society and Key Club. Kahn was also coached by Annie Zinkavich in Richmond, Va. on the Panthers United club team. In her free time, she enjoys playing the piano, guitar and flute or coaching for her travel team.
