KANSAS CITY, MO.– Luka Savicevic and Justin Vander Baan were named to the 2023-24 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court this afternoon, as the men's hoops program was crowned a Team of Academic Excellence.

Junior guard Luka Savicevic competed in all 32 contests, averaging 3.3 points, 1.2 assists and 1.4 rebounds per game. The Economics major proved himself as a valuable addition to the Leopard team after transferring to College Hill from Eastern Michigan prior to the winter season. He scored a career-high 14 points in the Patriot League victory at American on Feb. 17, shooting 4-for-5 from beyond the arc.

Junior center Vander Baan averaged a team second-best 9.3 points, 1.8 assists, 5.3 rebounds and 2.2 blocks to close out the 2023-24 regular season. The co-captain registered at least three blocks in 11 games on his way to a conference best 67 stops, good for eighth in the country. In just two years wearing the Maroon and White, he has quickly climbed the program ranks for career blocks, sitting in sixth place with 104. The Northbridge, Mass. native netted a career-high 28 points at Penn. on Nov. 24, shooting 13-of-22 from the floor. The Psychology major also blocked a career-high six shots versus Navy (Jan. 13) on his way to Patriot League Player of the Week on Jan. 15.

The NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards recognize men's basketball programs from all levels that completed the 2023-24 academic year with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. The NABC Honors Court, meanwhile, includes junior, senior and graduate student-athletes who finished the 2023-24 year with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.

"The NABC is proud to celebrate these accomplished student-athletes, along with the coaches and staff who champion success in the classroom," said NABC Executive Director Craig Robinson. "Education is a core value of the NABC, and the teams and athletes who earned these awards are proof that academic achievement remains a priority across every level of our sport."

Over 2,100 players earned spots on the NABC Honors Court and over 360 programs received NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards for 2023-24.
