EASTON, Pa. - Folabomi Fayemi was named to Nigeria's 17-man provisional roster for the senior men's national team, D'Tigers, ahead of the 2025 International Basketball Federation (FIBA) AfroBasket tournament.

"In sport, the opportunity to represent yourself, your family and your college is special and earning the chance to represent on a national team level is a true honor," said Lafayette men's basketball head coach Mike McGarvey. "All of Lafayette men's hoops is happy for Fola to have this experience and we cannot wait to cheer on Nigeria in the FIBA AfroBasket this month."

The Houston, Texas native is currently practicing in a week-long training camp and has two friendly games leading up to the showdown in Luanda, Angola from Aug. 12-24.

The D'Tigers are in Group B alongside Madagascar, defending champions Tunisia and Cameroon with games on Aug. 13, 15 and 17, respectively. Following pool play, the knockout rounds tip off on Aug. 18 with the final slated for Aug. 24 at the Pavilhão Multiusos de Luanda.

"I am really excited and honored to have this opportunity. It is not something that everyone gets to experience so I am extremely grateful," said Fayemi. "It will be cool to play alongside and learn from the pros, including guys like Josh Okogie. I can't wait to compete and am looking forward to hopefully come back as a champion from Africa!"

The sophomore guard is currently studying Economics on College Hill and played in 11 games during his rookie campaign. He totaled a career-high seven points and four boards against Rosemont on Nov. 24, 2024. Fayemi then missed 10 games due to a hand injury before returning to knock down his first collegiate 3-pointer against Navy on Feb. 8, seeing limited playing time thereafter. He also enjoys helping the Leopards grow the program and sport by volunteering at Lafayette's summer camps.

The Maroon and White are currently undergoing summer preparations for the 2025-26 season, following a Patriot League Quarterfinal finish last year.
