BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lafayette returned to Lehigh's Goodman Campus cross country course for the NCAA Regional Championships on Friday afternoon. Sophomore Anya Kazemi and senior Justin Brown paced the Leopards with 87th and 104th-place finishes.
For the women, Kazemi secured 87th out of more than 200 competitors in the race, finishing with a time of 21:50.3. Junior Ava Severino and senior Elizabeth Borah achieved 114th and 131st with times of 22:18.3 and 22:35.7, respectively. Freshmen Maeve McNamee (145th, 22:48.4) and Hazel Calway (152nd, 22:53.2) and sophomore Alivia Bear (179th, 23:39.3) rounded out the finishers for the Leopards.
Brown led the way for the men for the sixth meet in a row, snagging 104th with a final time of 31:55.8. Senior Cole Chukoskie and sophomore Cole Scattergood garnered 156th and 160th, finishing with times of 33:17.9 and 33:25.8. Sophomore David Whitford (169th, 33:53.6), freshman Ethan Buck (175th, 34:13.3) and senior Francis Dougherty (178th, 34:32.0) were also among the finishers for the Maroon and White.
The women took home 22nd overall while the men collected 25th in the team competition Â
West Virginia claimed the team victory for the women, led by their own Joy Naukot with the individual win. On the men's side, Princeton earned first place overall and Georgetown's Birhanu Harriman took home the individual victory.
