Lafayette Sits Fourth in Presidents' Cup Standings

Fall season was highlighted by men's soccer's championship run

EASTON, Pa. -- After the conclusion of the fall season, Lafayette athletics sits is fourth place in the Presidents' Cup standings, announced on Tuesday. The three Lafayette men's sports rest in third place (16.5 points) while the four women's sports reside in fourth (19 points) for a total of 35.5 points. Lafayette ranks behind Army (42.25), American (39), Boston U. (36) and ahead of Bucknell (35), Lehigh (33.25), Colgate (31), Navy (28.25), Holy Cross (24.5) and Loyola, Md. (14.25).

Men's soccer's run through the Patriot League Tournament included wins over the first, second and third seeds and ended with a conference crown to spearhead the Presidents' Cup effort. Football finished 6-1 in conference play (its most ever league victories in the Patriot League era) to garner a second-place finish. On the women's side, Field hockey made its third-straight appearance in the Patriot League Tournament final, while the women's soccer team advanced to the Patriot League Tournament semifinal for the time since 2016. 

Points for the Patriot League Presidents' Cup are awarded based on a combination of a team's performance in the regular-season standings and postseason finish. In cross country, golf, rowing, swimming and diving, and track and field, the points are awarded based on the final team finish at the Patriot League Championship. Points for football are based on the final regular-season standings.
