Leopards Defeat Rutgers on Senior Day

Seven Lafayette student-athletes were in action

EASTON, Pa. - The Lafayette fencing team hosted Rutgers for senior day, defeating the Scarlet Knights, 20-6, on Monday at Kirby Sports Center.

Six Leopards went undefeated in the duel with Rutgers. Sophomore sabre Sam Gilpin, freshman sabre Nikita Kogan, senior foil Benito Hergert, senior foil Amir Whitehead, junior epee Tyler Morse and freshman epee Ryan Leibowitz all went 3-0. Senior epee Antoine Mannes recorded a 2-1 mark.

The epee squad led Lafayette, going 8-1 in the match, while the sabre squad went 6-2 and the foil squad ended the match with a 6-3 record.

The Leopards return to action on Sunday when they travel to Drew University for the MACFA Championships.
